Scenes From The Soul – 5 a.m.

It’s 5 o’clock in the morning. She sits under a cozy blanket, alone in her living room, listening to the sounds of her loved ones sleeping in the rooms beside her.
Everything is peaceful – except her heart. The events of the past year have been catching up to her lately – affecting her sleep, her health, and especially her heart. There is no peace in her heart just now. So many things have interfered with her peace – or is it just that she’s LET them interfere?
She remembers quiet evenings reading her favourite magazines, watching a good movie snuggled up to her husband, innocent laughter shared with her sons, discovering the world with her youngest on afternoon walks, playing her favourite songs on the old keyboard, and card games with her boys. Where did it all go? And when was the last time she took a moment to watch the trees dancing in the wind, gaze at the stars on a clear night, or enjoy the colours of a sunset?
Her life is full – but she’s let in some things that don’t need to be there – filling up her days with checklists and perfectionism. She’s been letting go of the important things in favour of the superficial things. Her time with God is slipping, her husband feels left out and her kids are whiny. But there is hope. There’s always hope.
At 5 o’clock on a Monday morning, when the stresses and pressures of life threaten to overwhelm her once again, she sits on her couch, closes her eyes, turns her face to heaven, and listens… for the still, small voice… the gentle whisper in her heart… reminding her of a love that is beyond all understanding… and a peace that exists in ANY situation… if only she remembers to look for it…even at 5 o’clock in the morning.
