You may have already started your Christmas shopping (I started in January, but that’s a whole other article)! If not, the time has definitely come to start crossing names off your To-Buy-For list. This task may seem overwhelming and stressful, especially if you’re like me – I try to avoid malls at all cost! But there is hope for this year, and the next, and every Christmas that comes after.

As you make your way through your gift list, I have a thought that might ease some of the pressure. Think of it this way: All the people on your list have already received the most perfect gift ever given! The gift is the same for everyone and will fulfill all their wants, needs, desires, hopes and dreams.

What is the gift? You guessed it… Jesus Christ. God gave us His Only Son, to live among us for a time, showing us and teaching us about God’s love for us. His death on the cross freed us from any wrongs we have done and will do in the future, if only we accept the gift of salvation that Jesus offers. Eternity in heaven is part of the package that makes up the gift.

So if everyone has already been given the perfect gift, what about finding some way to remind them of this wonderful truth? Small crosses attached to gift tags, Biblical ornaments, or cards that depict the Nativity are just a few ideas.

And don’t forget – YOU were given the perfect gift, just like everyone else. Go ahead, accept God’s gift to you, cherish it and let it bring you peace this busy Christmas season!
