Wish List For 2010

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”  – Matthew 7:7 (NIV)

This is one of my all-time favourite verses.  Seek Ye First is one of my all-time favourite hymns.  They both serve as a reminder to keep our focus on God.  He is the one we should ask, He is the one we should seek, and His door is the one we should knock on.

As you continue on into this year, what do you want to ask God for?  What do you want to find in 2010?  What doors do you want to open in the next 11 months?

I have my list.  I’m almost giddy with it, more excited about it than I was about making my Christmas list!

I ask for, seek after and knock on the doors that will open wonderful family memories, connections with others to whom I can show something of  Jesus, opportunities to use the   abilities and passions God has given me, a closer walk with God – for me and my family, improved health, and more.

You see, I can ask for TONS of things from God, anticipating His answer to those that are lined up with His plans and purposes for my life.

This verse in Matthew gives us a promise that the One who set time in motion is listening to us as we look to another year, and He cares about our “lists”.  He wants to check the items off, add new ones that we never expected, and drop off a few of the unnecessary ones.

He wants to give us what we ask for and what we seek.  He wants to open the doors as we knock on them.  He wants to go through our lists with us, item by item, and watch our faces light up with joy and thankfulness as we receive them, find them and stand in front of the open doors.

So what’s on your list for 2010?
