Hi. My name is Lucky. I’m a baby bird who was born at Camp Norland. Cyber called me Lucky because I fell out of my nest THREE TIMES, and I survived each fall!
I wanted to share one special night of my short, little life with you. The night they saved me three times. Each time I fell, they picked me up. And they loved me. And I love them. And I wanted to say thank you.
To all the campers and staff who helped me up. I survived those falls because of you. Thank you for taking care of me and praying for me when God asked you to do that for me.
I heard you learning about the Fruits of the Spirit of God in Galatians 5:22-23 that week at Camp Norland. I heard you learning about kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, love, peace, joy, and a few other fruit. You showed them all to me.
When Cyber and a few others noticed that me and my brother and sister fell out of our nest the first time, you gently placed us back in the tree. That was very kind of you to do that.
When we fell out of the tree again and my brother and sister didn’t survive that fall, Clue and a few others kindly buried them and made beautiful crosses to mark where they were buried. How good of you to do that.
Cyber and some more of you gently placed me back in my nest once again, back in the tree, and faithfully watched and waited to see if my mom would come back to take care of me. My mom always comes back. She’s a lot like God that way. Psalm 91:4 says that God takes us in His big, strong wings and keeps us safe from the scary things in life. And these falls out of my nest sure were scary.
I heard you all praying for me at Vespers on Wednesday night and you showed so much faithfulness to me by doing that. You also showed how much you are growing into spiritual Olympians by talking to God and asking Him to help.
I did fall one more time out of my nest. I think my mom knocked it over by accident when she was flying away to get me more food. Name, Po, Jade, Wispa and Lecrae were walking by and started to help me. Wispa went to get Cyber because they had faithfully learned a lot about taking care of baby birds after I fell the second time. Cyber wanted to take care of me himself, but he found out the best thing to do was to let my mom take care of me.
So Jade picked me up in her gentle hands and placed me back in my nest that Cyber was kindly holding.
Lecrae faithfully climbed up my tree and Name helped him pick a good spot to put my nest back one more time.
This time they found a little box to nail into the tree to keep it really steady and not fall over any more!
I didn’t feel so good after that last fall…
Thank you all for loving me so much with the kind of love that God has for you.
Thank you for filling my tiny heart with so much peace and joy!
Keep sharing that love to the whole world!
Cyber and Lecrae (two of my special heroes)
