I’ve been busy 🙂
Not just when it comes to creating or updating or compiling books.
I got myself a part-time job and started a Master’s program too!
The job and the schooling are done from home, which is the only way it works for me.
And I’m grateful, SO GRATEFUL, for all that fills my days.
But I’m still finding the balance. I might be doing that on a daily basis for a while.
Because it’s a lot to put in – not so much on the quiet days, but on the life-is-just-loud days – that’s when it’s tough.
This level of busyness that I said I would never delve into again.
I say a lot of things, though, to try to keep out the “noise”.
Things like I’m never dating a pastor! (And today is our 19th wedding anniversary!)
The trick for me will always be in sorting out the noise… What’s good? What’s bad? What’s God?
And going with God always, with the good sometimes, with the bad not at all.
Sometimes the hardest noise to sort through is between the good and God.
The good feels amazing, but often there’s something missing, it’s often still loud (but in an unsettling way).
God noise can be loud and unsettling too – but it comes with this amazing peace and certainty.
So yes my days are full, and yes I have some sorting to do, will always have sorting to do, but it’s worth it – absolutely 🙂
And for this day, today, I would love to start by sharing 3 books with you…
- One Year with the Lord’s Prayer – A Daily Prayer Journal – I’ve been dreaming and planning this resource for years and finally dove in last week to put it together on paper. From the back cover… “In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus taught us many extraordinary things, including how to pray. Praying through the Lord’s Prayer in relation to the people and events in our days produces a wonderful rhythm. The rhythm of the prayers comes in repetition. We go through the Lord’s Prayer once a week, for 52 weeks. We record the requests and we record the answers. This might sound tedious, but there’s a simple peace that comes from following this particular rhythm & speaking it over different areas of our lives.”
And until Amazon expands the Look Inside feature on this book it might be hard to envision how the journal is set up… so here’s a peek 😉
- 2019 Bible in a Year Journal – this one is no surprise – an updated version of the resource I’ve been publishing for 3 years now – first with Thy Word, then with the annual updates that match up with Lent and Advent seasons – so readers are delving into the gospels leading up to Easter and the Old Testament leading up to Christmas. After reading reviews I did decide to stick with the blank journals that just give a scripture reference each day then tons of space to write, doodle, draw, etc. To read my daily summaries of the Bible passages as you go through the Bible in a year, you’ll have to grab a copy of Thy Word 🙂
- Living in the Moments – 11 Years of Blogging by Anna Sklar – I loved sorting through all those blog posts, and narrowing the book down by half just to get to 350 pages! I loved reading through all those moments, living them again – so precious – what a gift! I hope this book fills your heart too 🙂
We finally ordered a copy of each of my books just to have on the shelf – it was my 19th anniversary gift 🙂 And I can’t believe I’ve put it off this long! It will be nice to see them lined up together. And when it’s time for the next book, and I feel like maybe there’s no way I can possibly do it because life is too busy and too loud – I’ll look on the shelf and know it’s possible. It’s God noise. In His time (which usually comes as a surprise to me) it will happen.
Thanks for reading, following, supporting, encouraging – you’ll never know how much you helped in growing this stack of books on my shelf!
