About

I’m Anna,
an author and publisher
of personal reflections, easy-to-use resources, and helpful books.
I write and publish to encourage others
to pursue a life of simplicity
so they can truly enjoy the moments of each day.

This is my wonderful family:

christmas-2015

  1. Anna – me – author, self-publisher, property manager, school & church volunteer
  2. Joshua – my husband since 1999 – an Associate Pastor at All Nations Church
  3. Elijah – my 11-year-old son
  4. Josiah – my 15-year-old son
  5. There’s one son missing from the picture – our middle son, Caleb Joshua Freedom Sklar – he was stillborn in May 2003

I have always loved to write – journals, poems, stories, letters, emails, and articles of all varieties. About 15 years ago (while working at Toronto City Mission) I discovered I also love to publish.

BOOKS

In December 2013 I published a book about our Caleb – Discovering Hope – Sharing the Journey of Healing After Miscarriage, Stillbirth or Infant Loss – you can read all about that here.

In December 2014 I published my second book – Thy Word – A Journal of Reading Through the Bible in a Year – you can read all about that here.

In July 2016 I published the Lunchbox LOL Series – 8 books in total filled with ready-to-share notes for the lunchbox from Grade 3 – 8. That project was so much fun 🙂 – you can read all about that here.

In September 2016 I published The Princess of Dreams – a children’s story originally written for a university class in 2012. A wonderful young artist from my church (she was only 15 at the time) took on the project of illustrating the story, and the story came to life 🙂 – you can read all about that here.

In October 2016 I published The Jesse Tree Series – 3 books full of colouring pages with stories, family devotions, or ornaments – you can read all about that here.

That makes 14 books so far 🙂

ETSY

I created my first Etsy item (200 Jokes For The Lunchbox) in 2012. Since then I’ve added The Lunchbox LOL Series, The Jesse Tree Series, and The Jesus Tree (family devotions for Lent).  Come on over and visit my Etsy store!

BLOG

In June 2016 I changed the name and focus of this blog – it seemed it was time for an overhaul in a few different areas of my life, and this blog has always been a reflection of where I’m at. Simply Live began with a desire for a more simple life, a more full life (John 10:10), and a life that continues to be in tune with the vision of Living in the Moments.

NEWSLETTERS

Living In The Moments – Enjoying the moments of life, faith, marriage, and motherhood was the original name of this blog – my desire was to  connect more with the Mom’s Moments readers and share more about life, faith, marriage and motherhood.  I created their monthly newsletter in October 2006 and co-founded the online ministry in 2007.  I edited the Mom’s Moments newsletters until June 2009, and continued writing for them until June 2010.

From September 2010 – April 2011 I put together a few newsletters called The Family Forum – all about Growing Together in Faith and Family Life.

SPEAKING

I also do a little  bit of speaking – so far I have been the main attraction at one ladies retreat, preached alongside my husband a few times, and done a few other talks here and there throughout my life. Topics range from Marriage to Faith in the Family to Pregnancy Loss.

  1. Hi Anna, this is a beautiful website. My mom (Mary-Joan Heide) told me about it. It’s good to hear you are doing well. Your boys are beautiful. Danny (my husband) and I just had a beautiful little red-head, Samuel, who is 7 months now. What an adventure!
    God Bless,
    Erin
